OFFICE OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (OCEO) VACANCIES

The Office of the Chief Executive Officer (OCEO) encompasses the core streams of Strategy and Influence and holds responsibility for external influence and internal advisory regarding national policy that has a particular impact on the Group’s functions. We currently need skilled research and analysis professionals to lead two significant work programmes which are key Te Rūnanga priorities.


Project Manager – Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) (Fixed term, full time)

As a result of an agreement in principle with the Crown, two commercial opportunities exist to engage in regeneration and afforestation on Crown land. The Project Manager - ETS will work collaboratively across the Te Rūnanga Group to ensure that Ngāi Tahu is strategically positioned to maximise these opportunities including; exploring capitalisation options, analysing and presenting recommendations on deal structure and preferred entity and reporting to the respective governance entities within the Te Rūnanga Group. The role will also involve supporting relationships and negotiations with the Crown, other iwi and prospective partners.

Project Manager – Freshwater (Permanent, full time)

The Project Manager Water is responsible for leading the strategic engagement of the Te Rūnanga Group on freshwater issues across local, regional and national levels so as to protect, restore and enhance the expression of the rights and responsibilities of Ngāi Tahu. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that a Te Rūnanga Group Freshwater Strategy is produced and that the Te Runanga Group effectively represents aligned positions that maximise strategic opportunities and leverage. The role will require constructive and close relationships are maintained with Papatipu Rūnanga and the responsible entities within the Te Rūnanga Group.

Senior Policy Advisor/Junior Policy Advisor

The Senior Policy Advisor/Junior Policy advisor positions will lead and contribute to a diverse range of work streams at the interface of tribal and commercial development, engaging with both central government policy and the development of internal policies to provide for alignment with Ngāi Tahu
vision and values. These positions offer a real opportunity to lead, influence and produce high quality analysis, research and advice that has an immediate impact. Both positions will prepare and draft policy documents, in co-operation with internal and external working parties.

Senior Environmental Advisor – Freshwater Management (Permanent, full time)

The Senior Environmental Advisor – Freshwater Management/Kaitohutohu Pūtaiao Waimāori is responsible for leading implementation and operational aspects of freshwater related matters across local and regional issues in order to protect, restore and enhance the expression of the rights and responsibilities of Ngāi Tahu. The position is focused on ensuring maximisation of the roles and opportunities arising from the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement, local government planning, and policy
frameworks and large resource consent processes. The role will require maintenance of close and constructive relationships with Papatipu Rūnanga, entities within the Te Rūnanga Group, and external parties.

Senior Environmental Advisor – Land Development (Permanent, full time)

The Senior Environmental Advisor – Land Development/Kaitohutohu Pūtaiao Take Whenua is responsible for upholding the mana of Ngāi Tahu and facilitating the integration of the range of Ngāi Tahu values, interests, rights and responsibilities in all of the work undertaken by Ngāi Tahu Property, the commercial property company of the iwi. The role requires working across all Ngāi Tahu Property developments in order to facilitate Papatipu Rūnanga involvement and provision of strategic cultural and environmental advice. The role will be based within Toitū Te Whenua (the iwi Environmental Unit) and require maintenance of close and constructive relationships with Ngāi Tahu Property, Papatipu Rūnanga, rūnanga environmental entities, entities within the Te Rūnanga Group and external parties.

- Administration Manager/PA

This is a varied role with always plenty to do, you will work in a fun and friendly team who support each other and have a real commitment to get the job done.

The main purpose of this role is to provide administrative assistance and support to all departments. Your duties will include accounts, IT maintenance, overseeing the cashier functions, payroll queries and extensive OSH involvement. You will also be required to maintain employee files, statistical data, be our training liaison person to outside service providers and assist the General Manager in various projects.

You’ll have a passion to meet the challenge and have well developed organisation skills. You will need to be able to work in a multicultural environment and be a team player. Your skills will also include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and accounts processing. Exposure to HR processes and health and safety legislation would be an advantage.
