Gail Tipa

Gail is part of the Tipa whanau from Moeraki. Her Dad is Paani Tipa (known to most as Nelson) and her Mum is Margaret Colquhoun. She is one of the mokopuna of Thomas and Arapera Tipa. Like her sister, brother, nieces and nephews, she has lived all her life in Otago, mainly around the Taieri.

For the past 14 years she has been self employed, which has enabled her to work on projects with many of our Papatipu Rūnanga and with different Iwi across the country. The focus of much of her work over the past few years has been freshwater. Prior to becoming self employed she worked in education (as a teacher), health (in strategy and planning) and in the environmental field (as an environmental planner).

She continues to do environmental mahi with whānau from Moeraki.

Gail returns to Te Rūnanga after an absence of seven years. With respect to governance roles, she has served terms on the Otago Conservation Board, KTKO Ltd, Community Trust of Otago, the Otago DHB, and Timberlands West Coast Ltd.

Gail's governance experience confirms her commitment to Otago and she wants to see Ngāi Tahu Wāanui and Papatipu Rūnanga contributing positively to regional development.
